
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the payment of productivity-linked bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ wages, amounting to ₹1,865.68 crore, for 10 lakh non-gazetted railway employees. The cabinet meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The PLB payment to all eligible railway employees is made each year before the Durga Puja holidays.
Railway employees eligible for the productivity-linked bonus will get up to ₹17,951, equal to 78 days' wages, as per the official statement.
This year, the PLB will be paid to 10,91,146 railway employees.

Last year, the Union Cabinet had approved payment of a productivity-linked bonus to over 11.72 lakh railway employees in October. The productivity-linked incentive was equal to 78 days' salary, totalling ₹2,029 crore.
On Wednesday, the Cabinet also approved a ₹69,725 crore package for shipbuilding and maritime sector development, and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research scheme.
