478 new coronavirus cases reported in Gujarat as of 8:00 AM - Jun 8

This brings total cases to 20,070, out of which 13,635 have recovered and 1,249 have passed away

GUJARAT : Gujarat reported 478 in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in the state has increased to 20,070. As many as 1,249 people have died in the state due to Covid-19 infection.

There are 5186 active cases in the state while at least 13,635 people have been recovered from the infection.

The total number of coronavirus patients in the country stands at 256,611. Covid-19 has claimed 7,135 lives in India. Maharashtra (85975) has reported the highest number of coronavirus cases in India, followed by Tamil Nadu (31667), Delhi (27654), Gujarat (20070), and Rajasthan (10599).

Ahmedabad had the highest number of Covid-19 cases at 14285 confirmed infections. The table below shows confirmed cases for all districts.

Of the 7,135 deaths across the country, Maharashtra accounts for the highest number of fatalities at 3060, followed by Gujarat (1249), Delhi (761), Madhya Pradesh (412), and West Bengal (396).

India reported its first case of novel coronavirus in Kerala on January 30. To combat the spread of the virus, the central government implemented the first nationwide lockdown on March 25. The central government also suspended flight, trains, metros, buses across the states to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
