Gujarat news: Visually impaired girl uses technology to score 94% marks in 10th
Manasvi Unadkat used everything she had to continue her studies and with the help of technology, she successfully achieved this remarkable feat

A visually impaired girl from the Junagarh district of Gujarat has scored 94.93% marks in the state board's 10th standard examination. Manasvi Unadkat was 8 years old when she went through brain surgery which resulted in loss of vision. Despite the tragedy, Manasvi Unadkat used everything she had to continue her studies and with the help of technology, she successfully achieved this remarkable feat.
Manasvi's mother Pushpaben recalled how she was adamant about learning Braille and the mother-daughter duo used to travel to Junagarh for 8 months so that she could learn the language for visually impaired people.
When Manasvi reached class 9th, she had a tough choice to make as no Braille books were available for the subjects of Mathematics, her favorite subject. That's when she turned to technology to continue her studies in Mathematics.
“In Class IX, she received a mobile phone through a government scheme, which she used for her studies as it was audio enabled. It was during one of her searches on the internet, she found this app, Vidyakul, and contacted them," said Pushpaben.
With her commendable grit and help from technology, Manasvi Unadkat managed to score 86% marks in Mathematics.
Help from e-learning platforms
Manasvi Unadkat took help from e-learning platforms like Vidyakul’s learning app, which provides after-school education to state board students in their mother tongue. The application is partly funded by Gujarati business tycoon and philanthropist Savji Dholakia.
“Vidyakul’s app has helped me immensely as it made me learn mathematics and solve equations by repeatedly listening to the lessons from Sahil sir," Unadkat commented.
Acknowledging Manasvi's difficulties and dreams, Vidyakul decided to provide her free access to their e-learning platform and even assigned her their senior mathematics teacher.
“I have never experienced anything of this sort in my entire teaching career. I was astonished how one can memorize mathematics, visualize the steps to solve a problem, and then do that correctly," Sahil Vekariya, her mathematics teacher said.
