Haryana Nuh updates: Curfew to be lifted today from 9 am to 1 pm

Nuh violence updates: The curfew in Haryana's violence-hit Nuh district will be lifted for the movement of the public from 9 am to 1 PM as part of the attempt to restore normalcy.

Nuh violence: The curfew in Haryana's violence-hit Nuh district will be lifted for the movement of the public from 9 am to 1 PM. Besides, ban on the internet services will continue until the situation normalises, says the authority. Yesterday, illegal structures were razed off in Nuh from where stones were allegedly pelted on a religious procession during the clashes.

Violence broke out between two groups on July 31 in Haryana's Nuh district, on Monday that claimed the lives of six people including two Home Guards. The violence also gripped neighbouring districts, especially Gurugram on 1 August. In connection with the communal clashes, the Haryana police have arrested 141 people, and 55 FIRs registered so far.

Nuh violence: Police arrests Rohingya refugees

The Haryana Police has arrested several Rohingya refugees in connection with the recent communal violence in Nuh district. Narender Bijarniya, Nuh superintendent of police, said some of the refugees have been identified for pelting stones and being part of the mob on July 31 violence.

CPI delegation stopped by police

The CPI delegation which was visiting the violence-ridden areas was stopped by the police from entering violence-affected villages near Nuh district.

"We have decided to go back because we don't want any confrontation. Hooligans, goons and miscreants can go freely, but democratic people who have come here for peacemaking are stopped," CPI Rajya Sabha MP Binoy Viswam said.

Officials demolish constructions used for stone pelting during Nuh clashes

Haryana officials demolished multiple unauthorized constructions in the Nuh district, which had been affected by violence. Among these was a hotel and restaurant that allegedly played a role in pelting stones at a religious procession during the clashes the previous week, according to officials.

This is the fourth day of demolition drive in Nuh with the district administration saying they have identified 16 illegal structures which will be bulldozed on Sunday.

Nuh violence updates: Haryana Police refutes claims of sexual harassment with women in Nalhar temple

The Haryana Police has refuted the claims of sexual harassment of women stranded in Nalhar temple in Nuh during the recent violence. According to the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Haryana Mamata Singh no such incident took place during the clashes as she herself was present there on the spot. "A narrative is going on social media since yesterday that the day the devotees were stuck at Nalhar Mandir, gruesome crimes like rape occurred with a few women devotees there during this. I would like to tell you that this is false, a complete rumour," Mamata Singh said. She further said that strict action will be taken against such rumour-mongers. “I am saying this officially as I was present there during the entire incident. Nothing like that happened with any woman. We have already cleared that what actually happened there...Strict action will be taken against such rumour-mongers," the ADGP said.
