New Delhi: Minister for health and chemicals & fertilizers Mansukh Mandaviya on Saturday advocated for a renewed emphasis on quality, affordability, and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry.
Mandaviya chaired a roundtable meeting with the leading CEOs of pharmaceutical industry at the 8th International Conference on Pharma and Medical Device Sector.
To maintain its status as the world’s pharmacy, India must prioritize quality and affordable production, coupled with an amplified focus on research and development, Mandaviya stated. The minister underscored the rapid progression of the industry and encouraged stakeholders to leverage the current opportunities.
“There are significant investments being made in Production Linked Incentive schemes, and the establishment of forthcoming drug parks is already yielding positive outcomes,” Mandaviya said. Maintaining competitiveness, he suggested, is crucial to solidifying India’s global standing in the pharmaceutical industry.
The minister invited industry leaders to contribute ideas addressing pricing, regulatory issues, policy, and strategy. These insights will be considered for inclusion in a comprehensive presentation to guide future policy development and industry growth.
Over 60 companies, represented by senior leadership, many of which have a significant presence in both domestic and international markets participated in the roundtable.
