Heatwave conditions likely to prevail over these states for next five days, says IMD

India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday forecast light rainfall over the western Himalayan region which would be a break from the summer heat during the next four to five days. The officials further stated that in Bihar and West Bengal heatwave will be continued for the next three to four days due to which an oral alert has also been issued in the region.

Heat wave conditions very likely to continue in isolated pockets over West Bengal and Sikkim and Northeast Jharkhand during 04th-08th June; over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on 04th and 05th June; over Telangana during 04th to 6th June; over Vidarbha during 06th to 08th June and over East Uttar Pradesh 07th and 08th June.
Due to humid air & high temperature, Hot and Discomfort weather is very likely over Odisha and Tamilnadu on 03rd and 04th June. Heat Wave to Severe Heat Wave conditions prevailed in some pockets over East Bihar and Heat Wave conditions in some pockets over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and in isolated pockets over Gangetic West Bengal. This is 4th day of Heat Wave conditions over the above areas.
Rise in maximum temperatures by 3-5°C very likely over plains of Northwest India during next 5 days. Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions very likely to continue in some pockets over Bihar during 04th to 08th June.
Rainfall/thundershowers observed at most places over West Rajasthan, Andaman and Nicobar Islands; at many places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at a few places over East Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep and at isolated places over Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand, Assam & Meghalaya, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat Region, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema . Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal. Heavy rainfall observed at isolated places over East Rajasthan, Rayalaseema and Kerala.
Meanwhile, four people, including a woman and her two sons, died while three others were injured in rain-related incidents in Rajasthan's Ajmer and Jaisalmer districts, police said Sunday.
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for thunderstorms with heavy rains in many areas of the state on Sunday.
The department has issued an ‘Orange’ alert in Jaisalmer, Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara and Pratapgarh districts. A ‘Yellow’ alert has also been issued for Jodhpur, Sirohi, Tonk, Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, and Rajsamand districts.
