Heatwave effect: THESE states have announced closure of schools
The Indian Metrological Department has also issued alerts regarding heat waves and rising temperatures, especially for this week.

Amid the rise in heatwave and delay in monsoon, several states have announced closure of government schools up to Class 8 and some even have extended the tenure of the school closure.
In one move, the School Education and Literacy Department of Jharkhand on 14 June issued an order saying all schools (up to Class 8) in the state will remain closed till 17 June. While it added that the schools will remain closed till 15 June for Classes 9-12.
Before this, the Jharkhand government had announced the closure of all schools from 12 June to 14 June.

Meanwhile, owing to the heatwave, the Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel-led government in Chhattisgarh extended the summer vacation in the state from 15 June to 26 June.
As per CM Baghel's instructions, all schools in Chhattisgarh will remain closed until 26 June.
Earlier in the day, the Patna District Administration earlier directed to close all schools in the city from 12 June to 18 June. Imposing restrictions citing extreme heatwaves, the administration halted all academic activities till 18 June.
Even the Directorate of Education in Goa has issued a circular to close down all educational institutions on 10 June.
While, Andhra Pradesh has taken a different route and has not closed schools, but will be conducting half-day classes to combat the heat till 17 June. Schools will function from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM owing to the rise in temperatures.
