‘How we are raising our children…’ Women commission chairperson on crimes against live-in partners
On June 6, Manoj Sane, accused of killing his live-in partner Saraswati Vaidya was arrested by the police for killing his girlfriend and cutting her body into dozens of pieces.

National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson, Rekha Sharma, has expressed grave concern over the recent surge in horrifying killings, including the Mira Road murder, and highlighted that individuals are drawing inspiration from past incidents to commit such heinous crimes.
Sharma emphasised the increasing occurrence of crimes against live-in partners and stressed the need for society to reflect upon ways to address this issue. She particularly called upon the families involved and urged a deeper examination of the upbringing of children who engage in such crimes.
"I have seen people now taking clues from past incidents which are very gruesome and heinous. These kinds of crimes against live-in partners have increased in the recent past. Society needs to think about how to control it, especially the families of both, and how we are raising our children who are doing such crimes," the NCW chairperson told ANI.
