Hyderabad’s Praja Bhavan receives bomb threat, disposal squad rushed to spot

The Hyderabad Police on Tuesday received a bomb threat to Praja Bhavan, after which the state machinery went on high alert. The police and bomb disposal squad rushed to the location, and the area was cordoned off.
“The Hyderabad Police received a bomb threat to Praja Bhavan, formerly known as Pragati Bhavan, in Begumpet, Hyderabad. The bomb disposal team is at the spot and verifying it,” a police official said.
Praja Bhavan is the official residence and principal workplace of the chief minister of Telangana.
The bomb threat in Hyderabad comes as various parts of the country are receiving similar threats in the middle of the Lok Sabha elections 2024. The Delhi airport also received a bomb threat early in the morning on Tuesday, specifically for IndiGo flight 6E2211 from Delhi to Varanasi.
The aircraft was deboarded and moved to a designated isolation bay, a secure area away from other planes, where authorities conducted the required investigation. However, nothing suspicious was found.
"We have to find out what situation forced the crew members to evacuate the passengers through the emergency gate. The flight was cleared after security check, but the moment it was about to take off, the note was found, and it was moved to the isolation bay for thorough check," an official said.
"Following standard security protocols, all passengers were safely deboarded. The aircraft was taken to a remote bay for mandatory checks by security agencies. A thorough inspection was conducted, and no suspicious items were found," the official added.

In May, India received more than 15 bomb threats, including at sensitive locations such as schools, colleges of Delhi University, the Ministry of Home Affairs, and crucial airports. Almost all the bomb threats turned out to be hoaxes as nothing suspicious was found, but multiple central agencies are investigating the sources behind the bomb threats.
