The Indian Metrological Department has warned about continued very heavy rainfall activity for parts of North India, already battered by torrential rains. While the death toll mounts, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke with senior ministers and officials to take stock of the situation while Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge sought relief from the PM CARES Fund for the rain-hit states.
Several rivers, including the Yamuna in Delhi, in north India are in spate. In cities and towns across the region, many roads and residential areas were submerged in knee-deep water with the civic system unable to hold on in the face of record rains on Sunday.
-Moderate rainfall to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during next 5 days;
-Very heavy rainfall will also occur over Himachal Pradesh, extreme north Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Rajasthan on 10 July
-IMD has said that rainfall activity will reduce for the next three days
-Extremely heavy rainfall predicted over Himachal Pradesh on 10 July.
-Heavy rainfall is also likely over Delhi today and decrease thereafter.
-Moderate rainfall to very heavy rainfall very likely to occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Bihar during next 3-4 days
-The rainfall intensity will change to heavy thereafter in the above mentioned states
-Heavy rainfall very likely over Odisha during next 5 days
-Heavy rainfall very likely over Jharkhand on 12 and 13 July.
-Extremely heavy rainfall also very likely over Meghalaya on 10 to 12 July, over Arunachal Pradesh and Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim on 11 and 12 July.
-Moderate to heavy rainfall very likely to continue over Konkan, Goa, and Gujarat region during next 5 days.
-Heavy rainfall very likely over ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 13 and14 July
-Similar conditions will prevail over Saurashtra and Kutch on 10 July.
-Moderate to heavy rainfall is very likely over the region during next 5 days
-Very heavy rainfall likely over West Madhya Pradesh on 11 and 12 July
-Moderate to heavy rainfall very likely to over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala during next 5 days
-Similar conditions will prevail over coastal Andhra Pradesh on 10 and 11 July, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu on 10 July
Red Alert has been issued for the hilly state of Himachal Pradesh
