
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued red and orange alerts, warning of ‘very dense’ fog in several Uttar Pradesh districts, including Ayodhya, Prayagraj and Raebareli.
In a post on X, the weather agency issued a Red alert for the following districts and said, “Very Dense fog with visibility in less than 50 meters very likely…”
The IMD also issued an Orange alert for dense fog with visibility between 200 and 50 meters over the districts and adjoining areas of Uraiya, Balrampur-Up, Basti, Bijnor, Chandauli, Etawah, Fatehpur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Jalaun, Kannauj, Lakhimpur-Kheri, Lucknow, Mau, Muzafarnagar, Pilibhit, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, Sitapur, and Unnao.
The IMD also issued an orange alert for dense fog over several districts in Bihar, including Muzaffarpur, Patna, and Champaran.

The Met Dept, in its daily bulletin, predicted dense to very dense fog conditions during the night and morning hours, over Assam and Meghalaya till December 30.
It also forecasted dense fog conditions in isolated pockets over Jammu and Kashmir and East Arunachal Pradesh until December 28.
Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to experience very dense fog till December 30, and Bihar till December 31.
The weather agency also predicted dense to very dense fog conditions in a few parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh till December 30, and dense fog in isolated pockets for the subsequent 2 days.
The weather agency has forecasted cold wave conditions in isolated pockets of Jharkhand on December 26 and 27, while for West Rajasthan and north Chhattisgarh, it said that cold wave conditions would prevail until December 28.
Cold wave conditions are predicted to prevail over Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh from December 26 to 30.
The IMD also said that cold day to severe cold day conditions are very likely at a few places over Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim till December 28th, and in isolated pockets of Uttarakhand till December 27.
