New Delhi: External affairs minister S. Jaishankar is scheduled to visit Bangladesh, Sweden and Belgium during 11-16 May, according to an official statement on Thursday.

During his visit to Bangladesh, from 11-12 May, Jaishankar will participate in the sixth edition of the Indian Ocean Conference, which will be attended by several ministers from across the world, including Mauritius’s president Prithvirajsing Roopun and Maldives vice president Faisal Naseem.

After Bangladesh, Jaishankar will travel to Sweden from 13-15 May, marking his first visit to the country as India’s foreign minister. India and Sweden are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations, and Sweden currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. While in Sweden, he will participate in the second EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum (EIPMF) and hold bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers of several countries on the margins of EIPMF.

Jaishankar will also call on leadership in Sweden and participate in the inaugural session of the India Trilateral Forum with his Swedish counterpart.

In the final leg of his trip, EAM will visit Brussels for bilateral engagements with Belgian and EU officials from 15-16 May. He will attend the first ministerial meeting of the India-EU Trade and Technology Council along with Commerce & Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The visit is expected to strengthen India’s bilateral relations and economic ties with these countries.
