Indian Railways’ Central Railway zone conducted ‘Operation Dhanush’ on Saturday against ticket touts involved in e-ticketing. The operation was carried out in all the five divisions falling under the Central Railway Zone. The operation was aimed to control touts on e -ticketing in view of Diwali rush of passengers to their native places
The drive yielded arrest of 23 agents with seizure of 287 live tickets valued at Rs.9,43,725/- and 1008 journey performed tickets worth Rs.2118097/-.
All the live tickets will be blocked and subsequently cancelled by IRCTC on receipt of advice from RPF. Railways issued a statement in which it said that general public are warned not to buy tickets from touts involved in online ticketing.
The passengers cannot take their journey as well as loss their money if tickets are blocked on account of legal action, it added.
Similarly, the Western Railways zone has also carried out a drive after it found certain suspicious booking transactions in PRS system detected that the E – Tickets booked in train No. 22956 Bhuj – Bandra Terminus Kutch Express were booked using the same name of passengers on different days of Diwali holidays.
The railway official suspects that the tickets were booked by unauthorized tickets agents using dubious software.
E-Tickets were booked in train no. 22956 – BHUJ – BDTS Kutch express on same name group and in same train on different days of Diwali holidays for the dates ranging from 1st to 13th November, 2019. Accordingly, 282 suspicious PNRs consisting of 1692 passengers and tickets amounting to Rs. 7,19,100/- were blocked by the Railways in PRS system.
Passengers holding E-Tickets in Train No. 22956 BHUJ-BDTS Kutch Express for the above mentioned dates are requested to check the status of their tickets and if found blocked, then they are requested to contact the Chief Reservation Supervisors of Gandhidham, Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central station during office hours and submit their proof of identity.
Tickets of genuine passengers will be released and unblocked after verification with original ID and submitting photocopy at PRS office Gandhidham, Ahmedabad and Mumbai Central.
