The Ministry of Railways will purchase 44 rakes of India's first semi-high speed train - Vande Bharat. Railways Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted, "Dedicated to providing excellent transport facilities to passengers, the Railways will now purchase 44 rakes of Vande Bharat Express. This rake will be made under Make in India and equipped with modern facilities like automatic doors, coach display, luggage rack, LED, mobile charging point, CCTV and will also save time."
Vande Bharat Express trains currently run on New Delhi to Varanasi and New Delhi to Vaishno Devi Katra routes.
Let's take a look at the new features of Vande Bharat Express trains
-The new trainsets of the Vande Bharat Express will be able to reach the speed of 160 kmph in just 140 seconds.
-It will help in saving of 20% in journey time and all equipment are suitable for flooding conditions.
- All coaches will be chair car type.
-The train will be fully air-conditioned with automatic plug doors with retractable footsteps and automatic intercommunication door.
-The new trainsets of the Vande Bharat Express will have luggage racks with reading lamps, direct lighting (for passengers) and diffused lighting (for luggage racks), continuous LED light fixtures.
-There will be modular pantry equipments and GPS antenna in all coaches.
-Mobile/laptop charging sockets in the passenger seats.
-CCTVs and Emergency talk back units with networking system in all coaches.
The trainset is also provided with explosion proof, light weight lithium-iron-phosphate batteries specified to provide back up for duration of 3 hours, state of the art aluminium body roof mounted packaged unit (RMPU) type air-conditioning units with thermal comfort based Microprocessor controller.
