About the exam

The Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced (JEE Advanced) is a highly prestigious national-level exam that serves as the second level for candidates aspiring to become part of the esteemed IIT alumni. To qualify for JEE Advanced, approximately the top 2.5 lakh candidates from JEE Main are eligible to appear for this entrance test. The exam is conducted by one of the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs): IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee, along with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore. The entire process is overseen by the Joint Admission Board (JAB).

The cut-off scores play a crucial role in determining admission to various BTech programs offered by the IITs. Once candidates qualify in JEE Advanced, they are offered seats in IITs based on their course preferences and JEE Advanced ranks. This allocation process is carried out through a common platform called the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Various programs are offered by the IITs through JEE Advanced 2023, including BTech, BS, BArch, BTech and MTech dual degree, BS and MS dual degree, Integrated MTech, and Integrated MSc.
