The Jammu and Kashmir police issued a warning on Wednesday, June 12, about the heightened presence of terrorists in the region, following three recent terror attacks within the span of three days. Police also hinted at the possibility of a "newly infiltrated group" operating in the region.
Speaking to the media on the Hiranagar-Kathua attack, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain said, "This is a newly infiltrated group which has come to this area. There is a possibility of more terrorists also."
Earlier today, an official said the security forces killed a terrorist holed up in a border village in Kathua district on Wednesday in a more than 15-hour operation. The terrorist's partner was also shot dead during the operation, and a CRPF personnel was also killed.
In Doda district, five Rashtriya Rifles troopers and a special police officer (SPO) were injured when terrorists attacked a joint checkpost in the upper reaches of Chattergalla on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road late on Tuesday night.

These two terror incidents come just days after terrorists attacked a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a deep gorge, resulting in the death of nine people and injuries to 41 others.
Jammu and Kashmir police have announced a ₹20 lakh reward for information about the whereabouts of the terrorists involved in the attack on the bus and released the sketch of one of the terrorists.

Authorities have alleged that Pakistan's efforts to disrupt the tranquil environment in Jammu and Kashmir are behind the recent increase in terrorist activities in the Jammu region.
Without naming Pakistan, Anand Jain said the "hostile" neighbour is always making attempts to disrupt peace in the Jammu region.
