Karnataka oath-taking ceremony to take place on May 20
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief has written to all legislators, asking them to attend the meeting of newly-elected MLAs, MLCs and MPs at the Indira Gandhi Bhavan on Queen's Road at 7 pm.

Congress on Thursday ended the suspense over the Karnataka CM selection and oath-taking ceremony. KC Venugopal, the grand old party's general secretary announced Siddaramaiah as the next chief minister of Karnataka and D K Shivakumar as his only deputy in the soon-to-formed cabinet.
Addressing a press briefing at AICC headquarters here, Venugopal said, “On May 20, at 12:30 pm, along with CM and Deputy CM, a group of ministers will be sworn in. We are inviting like-minded parties to the swearing-in."
He said that all leaders, including the top leadership, worked very hard to make Karnataka's victory a reality. "We have decided on Siddaramiah as the chief minister of Karnataka. D K Shivakumar will be the only Deputy CM, "Venugopal added.
In addition, he said that Shivakumar will also continue as the party's Karnataka state president till the Parliamentary elections.
At the same press conference, senior party leader Randeep Surjewala said the Congress party is committed to fulfilling the five promises made during the elections.
When asked about the much-talked-about power-sharing formula between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, Venugopal said the only power-sharing formula is to share the power with the people of Karnataka. “Ours is a democratic party, we believe in consensus and not in dictatorship."
The senior party leader also added that newly elected MLAs are meeting this evening in Bengaluru to formally elect a new Karnataka CM.
The Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief has written to all legislators, asking them to attend the meeting of newly-elected MLAs, MLCs and MPs at the Indira Gandhi Bhavan on Queen's Road at 7 pm.
Earlier today, media reports stated that former Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday evening had a conversation with DK Shivakumar, who had been firm on his demand for the Karnataka's Chief Minister post, to resolve the issue.
Hectic parleys were held on Wednesday to break the deadlock in deciding on the Congress' chief ministerial pick in Karnataka with both the hopefuls presenting their cases before the top brass even as the party asserted that an outcome is likely within a day or two.
