Karnataka Elections Results 2023: Congress is set to form the next government of Karnataka and the party leaders are not shying away to attribute its credit to the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra. The senior leaders of the Karnataka Congress are claiming that they felt the difference in the attitude of voters after the Yatra and many of their poll promises were finalized after Rahul Gandhi talked with the people on their issues.

Out of the 20 assembly constituencies from which the Bharat Jodo Yatra passed, Congress won 15, and out of the remaining five, three went to JD(S) and two to BJP. The Congress candidates were successful in Bellary (ST), Bellary City, Gundlupet, Challakere (ST), Hiriyur, Molakamuru (ST), Nagamangala, Srirangapatna, Nanjangud (SC), Narsimharaja, Varuna, Raipur Rural, Gubi, and Sira, and Congress-backed candidate of the Sarvodaya Karnataka Paksha won in Melukote.

Senior leaders of the Congress Jairam Ramesh and Digvijaya Singh shared the information and also pointed out that during previous assembly elections in 2018, Congress won just 5 of these 20 constituencies.

"While this is the direct impact of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka, the intangible impact was uniting the party, reviving the cadre, and shaping the narrative for the Karnataka elections," Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said.

"It was during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, from the many conversations Rahul Gandhi had with the people of Karnataka, that the guarantees and the promises in our manifesto were discussed and finalized," he said.

On 30 September, the 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' led by Rahul Gandhi arrived in Karnataka, starting at Gundlupet in Chamarajanagara district and covering a distance of over 500 kilometers in approximately 22 days, passing through various districts such as Chamarajanagara, Mysuru, Mandya, Tumkur, Chitradurga, Bellary and Raichur.

Despite the doubts raised regarding its potential impact on the elections, the Yatra was considered a success as it drew large crowds from different backgrounds and walks of life.

"It was the Sanjeevini for the party. It energized the organization and instilled a deep sense of unity and solidarity among leaders and workers," Jairam Ramesh said while talking to news agency PTI.

"The Bharat Jodo Yatra started a particular narrative in Indian politics which the people of India were waiting for," Congress' media and publicity department head Pawan Khera said when asked about the yatra factor.

"In Karnataka, the Bharat Jodo Yatra spent about 22 days. If you remember the visuals of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Rahul Gandhi being drenched in the rain and continuing his speech in October, I think these visuals have stayed in people's minds," he told PTI.
