Karnataka CM Announcement: Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar to take oath tomorrow

Karnataka CM Race: A meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Thursday formally elected Siddaramaiah as its leader and chief minister of Karnataka, while DK Shivakumar as his deputy. The oath ceremony will take place on May 20.

A meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Thursday formally elected Siddaramaiah as its leader and chief minister of Karnataka, following which he staked his claim with the Governor, who invited him to form the government. The grand old party also decided that D.K. Shivakumar would be his only deputy.

The meeting of newly elected Congress MLAs, MLCs and MPs, which took place at Indira Gandhi Bhavan in Bengaluru, was also attended by AICC general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala and two other central observers—former Maharashtra chief minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and AICC general secretary Jitendra Singh.

Who will attend Karnataka CM swearing in ceremony? 

Kharge has invited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, NCP chief Sharad Pawar, former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray. Invitations have also been sent to National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah.

Kharge has sent an invitation to Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and he is likely to attend the swearing in.

Kharge also personally called up CPI general secretary D Raja and he has confirmed his participation at the swearing in. A similar invite has also been sent to CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury as also to Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will attend the swearing in of the Congress government in Karnataka, JD(U) spokesperson Rajib Ranjan said.
