Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah on Saturday took oath as Karnataka Chief Minister at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru today, Saturday, May 20, while DK Shivakumar has also sworn in as Karnataka's deputy CM. Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy to both leaders at the swearing-in ceremony.
Dr G Parameshwara, KH Muniyappa, KJ George, and MB Patil also took oath as cabinet ministers in the newly-elected Karnataka Government.
Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar on Friday met senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to discuss all possible names to be inducted into the cabinet and formally invite the Congress high command for the swearing-in ceremony on Saturday.
The visit came a day after the meeting of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on Thursday formally elected Siddaramaiah as its leader, after which he went to the Governor's office which invited him to form the next government of Karnataka.

Karnataka's newly elected Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday reached the Vidhan Soudha or state legislative assembly, within hours of taking the oath and said that all the five ‘guarantees’ promised by Congress in the pre-poll campaigns will be implemented ‘today itself’.
“Five 'guarantees' will be passed in Cabinet meeting & order will be issued to implement them today itself,” the CM said.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a statement after the swearing-in ceremony in Bengaluru, said, “Nafrat ko mitaya, Mohabbat jeeti," translated as “Hatred has been eradicated, Love has triumphed."
Former Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai wished Congress leader Siddaramaiah and cabinet ministers on assuming office. In Kannada, Bommai wrote, "Heartiest congratulations to Mr. Siddaramaiah and his cabinet members on assuming office as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka State".
