Kashi Mahakal Express: Commercial run begins today, details of tour packages here

    Kashi Mahakal Express, the third privately operated train of Indian Railways will begin its commercial run from Thursday after its the inaugural run on 16 February.

    The train which will be maintained by IRCTC (Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation), a subsidiary of the Indian Railways, and will operate three days a week.

    Passengers travelling this train may visit the three Jyotirlinga pilgrim centres – Omkareshwar (near Indore), Mahakaleshwar (Ujjain) and Kashi Vishwanath (Varanasi) in its journey.

    The train will run three days a week, of which it will be a bi-weekly service through the Sultanpur-Lucknow route and a weekly service via the Prayagraj route.

    "The Kashi Mahakal Express has got an overwhelming response from the public. In its journey commencing from February 20 from Varanasi, 612 bookings have been made by 7 pm of February 19 which include end-to-end and multi-leg journey sectors," an official said.

    "The booking is likely to increase further by the time the train departs from Varanasi at 2.45pm on 20 February," he said.

    The IRCTC is also offering several tour packages for the passengers of Kashi Mahakal Express. The tour packages include lodging at AC hotels at night and will also be provided with breakfast and dinner. IRCTC will also provide AC vehicles during the visit to the places.

    Here is the list of the tour packages that are being offered by the Indian Railways subsidiary.

    Ujjain – Omkareshwar tour package:

    IRCTC is offering this tour package for two nights and three days. The tour will begin on every Monday and Wednesday. The cost of the package will be 9,420 per person and it includes the visit to the places like Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple, Kaal Bhairab temple, Ram Mandir ghat, Har Siddhi Temple and Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple.

    Ujjain – Omkareshwar – Maheshwar – Indore tour package:

    In this package, which consists of 3 nights and 4 days, IRCTC is offering visits to Hindu temples like Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga and Kaal Bhairab temple and historical places like Holkar Fort, Narmada Ghat. The cost of this tour is 12,450 per person. The tour will start on Friday of every week.

    Bhopal – Sanchi – Bhimbetka – Ujjain tour package:

    The cost of this tour package is 14, 950 per person and it will start every Friday of the week and will be of three nights and four days. People opting for this tour can visit places like Sanchi Stupa, Bhimbetka rock painting, Kaal Bhairab temple, Harsiddhi temple and Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple.

    Bhopal – Sanchi – Bhimbetka tour package:

    This tour package will start every Monday and Wednesday of the week and it will cost 8,480 per person and the tour includes a visit to Bhopal, Sanchi Stupa, and Bhimbetka rock painting.

    Route and timings of Kashi Mahakal Express:

    Train No 82402/82401 Indore – Varanasi Express via Lucknow

    It will be a bi-weekly service in which Train No 82402 Indore – Varanasi Express will depart from Indore at 10.55am every Wednesday & Friday and will arrive Varanasi at 06.00am the next day.

    Similarly, Train No 82401 Varanasi - Indore Express will depart from Varanasi at 02.45pm every Tuesday & Thursday and will arrive at Indore at 09.40pm the next day.

    This train will halt at Ujjain, Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Bina, Jhansi, Kanpur, Lucknow & Sultanpur stations in both directions.

    Train No 82404/82403 Indore – Varanasi Express via Prayagraj

    It will be a weekly service in which Train No 82404 Indore – Varanasi Express will depart from Indore at 10.55am every Monday and will arrive Varanasi at 05.00am the next day.

    Similarly, Train No 82403 Varanasi - Indore Express will depart from Varanasi at 03.15 pm every Sunday and will arrive Indore at 09.40am the next day.

    This train will halt at Ujjain, Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Bina, Jhansi, Kanpur & Prayagraj(Allahabad) stations in both directions.

    The train will provide a host of facilities and services to the passengers on-board including high quality vegetarian food, on-board bedrolls and housekeeping services and on-board security services.

    Every passenger travelling in the train will be covered with a complimentary travel insurance of Rs. 10 lakhs during the journey. Bookings for the train will be exclusively available on IRCTC website www.irctc.co.in and its mobile app ‘Irctc Rail Connect’.

    The passengers can also get their tickets booked through authorized agents and online travel partners of IRCTC. The train will have an advance reservation period of 120 days.

    The current booking will be available to the passengers on the platform itself after preparation of first chart, 4 hours to 5 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train. IRCTC is further facilitating the passengers by allowing automatic full refund of the train fare in case of cancellation of the train for both waitlisted as well as confirmed e-tickets.
