The highly anticipated G20 meeting is scheduled to be held in Kashmir from May 22 to May 24. Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Vijay Kumar, along with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, chaired a review meeting with field officers to discuss security arrangements.

The objective of the meeting, as reported by Kashmir police, was to ensure robust security measures are in place to prevent any potential terrorist attacks during the G20 summit. Officers were instructed to deploy magistrates and police personnel well in advance of the summit and to strengthen security in vulnerable areas.

For the first time in history, the picturesque region of Kashmir is preparing to host the prestigious G20 Summit, which is expected to have a positive impact on the tourism and commerce industries in the area.

Preparations are in full swing in the city of Srinagar, the third G20 tourism working group meeting will take place from May 22 to May 24 at the Sheri Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) situated on the shores of the renowned Dal Lake. Various construction projects, including the installation of hoods, are underway, and road repairs and restoration are being expedited.

Notable efforts are being made to beautify the bunkers located between the SKICC and Srinagar International Airport, adding to the overall appeal of the summit.

To greet the eminent guests at the summit, the city of Srinagar is being decked out.

The Department of Tourism Kashmir has taken several crucial measures to ensure an unforgettable experience during the G20 summit. The event is expected to enhance global awareness of Kashmir and provide a fresh perspective on the region's tourism industry. With Jammu and Kashmir's economy heavily reliant on tourism, the summit is projected to attract a record number of visitors this year. The handicraft sector is also optimistic about the global opportunities that may arise from the conference.

The G20 is a premier forum for international economic cooperation, playing a significant role in shaping and strengthening global architecture and governance on major economic issues. India holds the presidency of the G20 from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023.

Representatives from the European Union, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, and Turkey will be present at the G20 Summit.

As Kashmir prepares to host this influential gathering, it showcases its potential as a global destination while prioritizing security and developmental efforts to ensure a successful and impactful G20 summit.
