Mumbai, the ‘City of Dreams’. Everyone who is living in this ‘Mayanagri ‘ or visiting the city wants to know which the most happening spot is to hang out. Recently one such list was compiled of the best restaurants in the city which left Twitter users confused and caused stir on the social media site.
This comprehensive compilation was titled “Things to Do in Mumbai. These are some of the places you have to visit in the city.” The move aimed to cater the diverse culinary preferences of the financial hub of the country, featuring categories ranging from coffee shops and bars to lunch spots and fun Saturday destinations. But the list left Mumbaikars disheartened and confused. A Twitter user sharing the snap of the comprehensive list twitted “Is this a joke?”
The social media site outcry was fuelled as the list lacked the representation of local favourites and hidden gems that truly capture the essence of Mumbai’s vibrant food like Vada Pav, Bombay Sandwich, Brun Maska and Falooda. Mumbai, a heaven for food lovers, offers a variety of food options available for everyone and the best part is they are available at affordable prices.
But the places were described in the list were higher-end places to have food at. A twitter user with namePeaky Balwinder twitted Isko bolo ye suggestion ke saath ₹3-4 Lakh bhi de (Please ask them to give ₹3-4 Lakh along with these suggestions),”
For some users, it would be better to take matters into their own hands, creating alternative lists and sharing their personal recommendations to rectify what they believed was a glaring oversight.
Another user wrote, “The way I’ve gone to Bombay every summer since I was a kid and still haven’t been to even one of these places as an adult is…”
“These are the places which make you wish you put the bill amount in an SIP instead,” a user wrote.
Another user questioned the target audience of the list
“Inka target audience kya tha," a reply read.
