Amidst massive rise in the coronavirus cases, Bhopal Crisis Management Group has decided to impose Corona Curfew in the city in contain the spread of the virus, news agency ANI reported. The curfew will remain in force from April 13 to April 19, till 6 am. MP Minister Vishvas Kailash Sarang said, "It means daily activities will continue. Inter-state and inter-district movement of essential services will be allowed."
Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Sunday said 'janata curfew' (voluntary shutdown) would be very effective in preventing the spread of coronavirus, a PTI report said. Patel, who is also Uttar Pradesh governor, addressed an all party Covid-review meet in Madhya Pradesh through video- conferencing from Lucknow on Sunday.
She also asked mohalla committees in urban areas and sarpanches in rural areas to effectively implement the concept to contain the outbreak.
During the meet, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan ruled out the possibility of a lockdown, and stated the state will opt for self- imposed "corona curfew" to effectively control the pandemic, he said.
The chief minister said 83,000 persons had registered themselves as volunteers in the state to render service in the fight to contain the pandemic, and they will assist in vaccination, providing medical facilities to patients, creating awareness about masks, and helping those in home and institutional quarantine.
He further added, COVID-19 cases in the state have doubled currently when compared to the peak of the outbreak last year.
As many as 5,939 people were found to be infected with COVID-19 virus on Sunday taking the total caseload to 3,38,145. The state also recorded 24 related fatalities pushing the death toll to 4,184. Currently, the number of active cases stands at 35,316. Also 3,306 discharged today took the recovery total to 2,98,645.
The Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's office on Sunday also confirmed that 20,000 Remdesivir injections arrived in Indore today. Out of the 20,000 injections, 85% will be sent to medical colleges and 15% to district hospitals.
As per the Union Health Ministry said on Monday, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan have shown a steep rise in the daily COVID-19 cases accounting for 83.02 per cent of the new infections.
India's daily cases continue to rise and 1,68,912 fresh coronavirus infections were registered in a span of 24 hours, the highest single-day rise since the outbreak of the pandemic.
