Madhya Pradesh: Trainer aircraft overturns while landing at Suktara air strip in Seoni district

A police official said the trainer aircraft, operated by a trainee woman pilot, flipped due to a faulty landing.

A trainer aircraft overturned while landing at Suktara air strip in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday, reported PTI quoting officials.

According to the details, provided by the Free Press Journal, the aircraft, belonging to Redbird Aviation Pvt. Ltd., was being operated by a trainee pilot during a routine training session.

A police official said the trainer aircraft, operated by a trainee woman pilot, flipped due to a faulty landing. However, there was no fire, and the trainee pilot onboard escaped unhurt, the official added. .

The airstrip is maintained by the Madya Pradesh Public Works Department and is 22 km from the Seoni district headquarters. District collector Sanskriti Jain said the concerned department has been asked to conduct an inquiry, after which the exact cause of the accident will become clear.

As per reports by FPJ report, officials from Redbird Aviation Pvt. Ltd. quickly covered the overturned plane with a tarpaulin, to hide the incident. So far, the authorities have not given any official statement. 

Previous incidents:

Earlier in May, a trainee aircraft suddenly crashed while taking off from Uttar Pradesh's Dhanipur airstrip. The incident took place when the plane collided with the airport wall. That time too, the plane was being flown by a trainee pilot who narrowly escaped.

In April 2025, a trainee pilot was killed after a trainer aircraft crash-landed at Amreli in Gujarat. In the incident, the aircraft hit the tree on its way down and crashed into an open plot in a residential area of the Amreli district in Gujarat. The aircraft immediately caught fire after the landing.

In March 2024, a training aircraft crashed at Madhya Pradesh's Guna Airport, where a female pilot sustained severe injuries.

In that incident, the plane took off from Sagar and had sought permission for emergency landing at Guna airport. However, the aircraft lost its balance while landing and sped ahead of the runway towards Gopalpura.
