Shiv Sena leader Bharat Gogavale on Tuesday said that an expansion of the Maharashtra cabinet, led by Eknath Shinde, is expected to occur around June 2.
As reported by PTI, Gogavale also expressed his own optimism about securing a position in the ministry.
Deepak Kesarkar, the Education Minister, mentioned that the existing ministers would experience relief if new members were inducted. The addition of new members would alleviate the challenges of managing both houses of the legislature during a session, considering the current strength of the cabinet.
Pratap Sarnaik, another Sena MLA, also told reporters that a cabinet expansion will take place soon as "all the roadblocks are now cleared."
Pratap Sarnaik, the Sena MLA from Thane, also expressed optimism about the timely occurrence of the cabinet expansion, The Indian Express reported.
As per the report, Sarnaik said, “As all the hurdles ahead of us have been removed, the cabinet expansion will now take place soon. Shinde-ji has promised us and we trust his word. So, if he has said it will surely happen… he keeps his word."
In the meantime, Chief Minister Shinde has called for a meeting of all party MLAs and MPs at the Varsha bungalow in Mumbai on Wednesday. The purpose of the meeting is to assess the progress of development projects and strengthen the party's strategy in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Additionally, there are discussions within the Shinde-led Sena regarding their potential demand for a cabinet position in the Union government.
