Maharashtra coronavirus positive cases jump to 338, death toll at 16

Three more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Maharashtra today

    Three more people tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Maharashtra today. With this the total number of Covid-19 positive cases in the state went up to 338, a health official said.

    Out of these three people, two are from Pune and one is from Buldhana, he said.

    "3 more COVID19 cases reported in Maharashtra (2 from Pune & 1 from Buldhana) taking the total number of positive cases in the state to 338: Maharashtra Health Department," ANI tweeted.

    The number of coronavirus positive cases in Maharashtra increased by 33 to 335 on Wednesday, including 30 in Mumbai alone. The tally can increase further as nearly 5,000 quarantined persons are in the high-risk category, according to the state government. The state has so far recorded 16 deaths - the maximum in the country.

    Mumbai, which has the highest number of coronavirus patients at 181, has so far recorded 12 deaths. Pune district has 50 cases till date.

    Meanwhile, the total tally of novel coronavirus cases in India crossed 1,800-mark on Wednesday, according to the data received by the health ministry.

    The country has reported 1,834 confirmed Covid-19 cases so far. Of these, 1,649 people are currently affected by the highly contagious Covid-19 disease, 143 people have recovered and discharged from the hospital while 41 people have lost their lives. There are 51 foreign nationals as well among the 1,834 cases.
