The CBI arrested Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped liquor policy for 2021-22 after nearly eight hours of questioning on Sunday. Officials said that his answers had not been found satisfactory. Meanwhile, AAP leaders have defended Sisodia saying that he is ‘innocent’. On Monday, the party members staged protests near the BJP headquarters.

AAP leaders on Sunday claimed that they were arrested hours after being detained for protesting near the CBI office where Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was being questioned in the Delhi excise policy scam case earlier in the day.
The Delhi police, however, has denied their claims and said it had imposed section 144 CrPC was imposed in the area.
Police on Sunday detained 50 people, including Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh and minister Gopal Rai, who were protesting near the CBI office.

According to news report by PTI, the officials of the Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI grilled the minister on various aspects of the Excise policy, his alleged link with Dinesh Arora and other accused in the FIR, and details of message exchanges from multiple phones among others, they said.
The CBI investigators were not satisfied with the responses provided by Sisodia and alleged that he was not cooperating in the investigation and avoiding clarifications on crucial points sought by them resulting in his arrest, they said.
