Fast food chain McDonald's may have tried to be unique with their latest ad campaign but netizens did not like the short love story between the staff and the customer.

In the latest ad campaign by McDonald, a male customer is seen purchasing a meal from the food outlet. A female McD staff member serve him food and the duo exchanged glances. The ad showcases a brewing love story between the two. Seconds later, as the young boy finishes his order, he goes back to the queue so that he can again meet the girl and initiate the talk.

"Sometimes, the greatest love stories start with the tiniest things – a glance, a smile, a meal. Watch this unusual date and find out how a meal can give you #MoreForLess at just Rs.179! Visit a McDonald’s near you and get McVeggie Meals @ Rs.179," the company wrote on Twitter.

However, netizens have slammed this MacDonald's advertisement as some said the ad is promoting "wrong precedent" in a society that already sees gig workers as low-life individuals that can easily be exploited.

One user wrote called the ad outrageous and disgusting.

“1. You are inviting your customers to hit on your employees 2. Creating a potentially unsafe workplace for your female employees 3. Objectifying your female staff for profit by suggesting your customers can flirt and find a date here”.

Another user wrote, "McDonald's ad encouraging customers to flirt with the employees.

What does MC in McDonald's stand for?"

A Twitter user wrote, "Mc Donald should be reported for this ad which upsets the dignity of counter workers and relays a very skewed message".

This week, food delivery platform Zomato witnessed backlash from netizens for its advertisement on World Environment Day. Zomato came under fire for depicting the actor who played the Dalit character Kachra in the film "Lagaan" as items made of recycled waste. The ad, aiming to show the food delivery company's recycling efforts, was termed "disgusting", "blatantly casteist", and "extremely insensitive" by netizens on Twitter. Zomato has now deleted the advertisement from across social media platforms.
