Karnataka High Court dismissed a petition on Friday seeking a direction to transfer the investigation into the MUDA site allotment case, which allegedly involved Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, to the CBI.
Siddaramaiah is facing allegations of illegalities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority's (MUDA) allotment of 14 sites to his wife, Parvathi B M. MUDA had originally acquired the land for ₹3,24,700.
“The material on record on its perusal nowhere indicates that the investigation conducted by Lokayukta is partisan, lopsided or shoddy for this court to refer the matter to CBI for further investigation or reinvestigation,” Justice M Nagaprasanna said, dismissing the petition filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna.
Siddaramaiah, his wife, brother-in-law B M Mallikarjun Swamy, Devaraju—from whom Swamy had purchased land and gifted it to Parvathi—and others were named in the FIR registered by the Lokayukta police establishment, located in Mysuru, on September 27, following the order of the Special Court that exclusively deals with criminal cases related to former and elected MPs/MLAs.
On January 31, the Karnataka Lokayukta conducted raids in seven different cases in various locations in Bengaluru, Belagavi, Chitradurga, Raichur and Bagalkote.
ED has also attached 142 immovable properties of a market value of ₹300 crore in connection with the MUDA case against CM Siddaramaiah and others.
The Enforcement Directorate's Bangalore Zonal Office attached these properties under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002.
According to the ED, these properties are registered under the names of various individuals working as real estate businessmen and agents.
ED initiated the investigation based on a First Information Report registered by the Lokayukta Police, Mysore, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, against Siddaramaiah and others.
