Days after the arrival of monsoon in Mumbai, many parts of the city are facing the problem of water logging and power cut. Adding on woes, Mumbaikars will also face 10 per cent water cut due to inadequate rainfall in catchment area this year, said BMC chief IS Chahal on Tuesday, reported Times of India.

One of the main reasons behind the water shortage looming over the city battered with heavy rainfall was the delay in monsoon. As per the news report, Cidco will impose 15% cut in its supply areas from Wednesday. Water is supplied to different parts of Mumbai from seven lakes. As on Tuesday morning, those seven lakes had 6.97% of the 14 lakh million litres of water stored for the year, according to Times of India's report.

IMD issues rainfall alert for Mumbai on Tuesday

IMD has predicted heavy rainfall with cloudy weather for Wednesday and Thursday in areas near to Colaba, Mumbai. This area can witness a fall in temperature of 24 degree Celsius. IMD's Colaba weather station recorded 24 mm of rainfall in last twenty four hours on Wednesday. IMD Sanctacruz recorded 37 mm of rainfall in last twenty four hours. Other than Colaba, other weather stations of IMD located in Mumbai have also predicted heavy rainfall with cloudy weather for next two days in the city.

Mumbai arrived around two weeks late in Mumbai on Sunday. What amazed weather scientists the most was the same day arrival of monsoon in Delhi and Mumbai. In Delhi, monsoon arrived two days earlier than expected on Sunday. Since then, the city has received 344 mm of rainfall. For the June month, the rainfall deficit in Mumbai stands at 25%. The average June rainfall requirement of the city stands at 526.33 mm.

Meanwhile, the city continues to suffer from problems arised due to monsoon. Some people have complained of the collapse of their house's roof due to rainfall. Whereas some regions also have faced landslides. Long traffic jam and water-logging on roads remain to be a persistent situation in the city due to rainfall.
