The Weather Department predicted heavy rainfall in Palghar, Dhule and Nandurbar districts, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning have been predicted in Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nasik, Ahmednagar and Pune districts.
The IMD had issued an orange alert for Mumbai on 26 November, which is today.

Heavy rainfall and thunderstorm lashed Mumbai city on Sunday morning. Several people posted videos of weather on the X platform. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, including Mumbai on Sunday (26 November). In its daily weather forecast post, the IMD said that rain may occur in Madhya Maharashtra along with a hailstorm between 64.5 mm to 115.6 mm. Read here.
Mumbai received light showers accompanied by thunder early Sunday morning and the rainfall coupled with the cool breeze made the city weather pleasant.
There was no disruption of road traffic or local train services due to the rainfall.
The Colaba observatory (representative of south Mumbai) recorded 9.2 mm rainfall, while the Santacruz observatory (representative of suburbs) recorded 5.2 mm rainfall over the last 24 hours, officials of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said. (PTI)

Earlier in the day, rains intensified in parts of Mumbai and the suburbs. The rainfall had turned heavier in parts of Mumbai and its suburbs, including Navi Mumbai and Thane. (ANI)
The weather department, in a forecast shared this evening for tomorrow, said light to moderate rainfall is “very likely" in Mumbai, whereas, a thunderstorm combined with gusty winds is expected in the neighbouring Thane and Palghar.
The rainfall has turned heavier in parts of Mumbai and its suburbs, including Navi Mumbai and Thane. The downpour has been incessant for nearly the past 20-30 minutes, locals said. The precipitation is accompanied with gutsy winds and lightening.
The India Meteorological Department, in its latest weather forecast, has predicted more thundershowers in the city till tomorrow. Meanwhile, the temperature dipped below 24 degrees Celsius in the city following the spell of heavy rains and gusty winds in the evening.
Heavy rains have been reported in parts of the Vasai and Virar western suburbs of Mumbai, locals said on social media. In Thane, the satellite town next to Mumbai, a dense cloud cover is being seen.
Dark clouds hovered over Mumbai from 4:30 pm onwards, and rains have been reported again in some parts of the city. Earlier, downpour with thunderstorm was reported in the wee hours of the day.
The conditions are overcast in Navi Mumbai and some other suburbs around Mumbai. The city and its adjoining parts received unseasonal rainfall earlier in the day. There are chances of further precipitation in the evening.
Gujarat on Sunday witnessed unseasonal rainfall in many parts of the state since. Hailstones also fell in many places accompanied by sporadic downpour.
According to the State Emergency Operation Center, Gandhinagar Gir Somnath experienced 38 mm of rainfall from 6 am to 8 am on Sunday morning, Junagadh witnessed 35 mm of rainfall, Amreli witnessed 13 mm of rainfall, Rajkot (6mm) on Sunday morning.

On Sunday, Mumbai witnessed the first thunderstorm in November, as well as, heavy rainfall during midnight hours.
Parle, Santacruz, and Andheri received the most rainfall in Mumbai.
In Palghar, there were reports of some motorbike accidents following rains. A person was killed in one such incident under Kelve police station limits, an official said.
A building in Maharashtra's Thane district caught fire on Sunday morning due to lightning strike after heavy rains lashed many parts of Thane and neighbouring Palghar district in the early hours. After receiving information, a fire engine was rushed to the spot and the blaze was put out.
According to the IMD, a trough has formed in the Bay of Bengal coast due to which rainfall activities are expected in the coming days. "This trough is moving towards the Maharashtra coastline which may lead to rainfall in several coastal districts including parts of Mumbai Metropolitan region (MMR)".

IMD Mumbai said that a thunderstorm in the city could be because of the formation of the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal. Recently, the weather department issued a yellow alert for Maharashtra's Thane, Palghar, and Raigad districts for Sunday and Monday.
