Mumbai Weather: Rain with gusty winds, dust sweep parts of Mumbai, Thane; brings relief from sweltering heat

Bringing a relief from the scorching heat, Mumbai, Thane and adjoining areas on Monday afternoon received rains accompanied with dust storm, lightning, gusty winds and thundering.

The Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) has issued yellow alert for Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Solapur, Latur, Beed, Nagpur, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.

These regions are very likely to receive thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places.

According to weather department, Mumbai will receive light rain and thunder showers.

“Possibility of light rain/thundershower in evening/night over the next 24 hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures will be around 35°C and 28°C respectively,” said RMC in a post on X.

Whereas, an orange alert has been issued for Pune, Satara, Sangli, Nashik, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Jalna and Parbhani districts.

According to weather forecast, Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning, gusty winds (50-60 kmph, hail are very likely at isolated places.

"Heavy to intense rain ahead for the next 2 hours in Thane & Palghar, Kalyan, Badlapur and interiors. Advisable for residents to stay indoors. Wind speeds will be very high and massive near 40-50 kmph. More intense rain in Interiors," Rushikesh Agre, an independent meteorologist, posted on X.

Some districts of Marathwada are likely to witness thundershowers at many places, and gusty winds (40-50 kmph), light to moderate rain.

Train, Metro services affected

Local train services on Central, Harbour and Western railway lines were running behind late by at least 15 to 20 minutes.

Metro services also affected as cloth got entangled on the OHE near Airport Road Metro station.

RMC's forecast for Tuesday

Mumbai: Isolated pockets of Mumbai are very likely to experience hot and humid conditions.

Thane and Palghar: Heat wave very likely in isolated pockets. Possibility of rain or thundershowers towards evening.

Raigad: Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning & gusty winds (30-40kmph) at isolated places.

Meanwhile, several X users also took to microblogging site to share photos and videos of rain and dusty winds.
