Shraddha Walker re-run in Mumbai: Woman killed and chopped into pieces in Mira road, live-in-partner arrested

The suspect, identified as Manoj Sahani, had been staying with Saraswati Vaidya in the rental flat in the Akashganga building in the Mira Road area over the past three years.

A Mumbai-based man, accused of killing and chopping his live-in partner into pieces, was arrested by the Maharashtra police on Wednesday. The suspect was identified as Manoj Sahani, who has been staying with the lady in a rental flat for more than three years.

Accused Manoj Sane taken into Police custody after Thane Court remanded him to custody till 16 June. He was arrested last night after he reportedly killed his 32-year-old live-in partner.

“Pieces of the body of a 32-year-old woman killed by her 56-year-old live-in partner have been sent to JJ Hospital for analysis. A special team of doctors will now examine the body parts and let police know which body parts are missing. Complete analysis will be done by doctors. Further investigation is being done," said MBVV Police.

The 56-year-old man was detained by the police on Wednesday evening in connection with the murder of his live-in partner and the dismembering of her body, the police officials told ANI.

The deceased lady has been identified as Saraswati Vaidya, an orphan, reported Indian Express.

The two have been living together for years in a rental flat in the Akashganga building in the Mira Road area. On Wednesday, the Nayanagar police received a complaint of a foul smell coming from the couple's flat. Later, the police reached on the spot and found human body chopped into pieces from the apartment.  The body was decomposed and its pieces were lying in the flat. The priliminary investigation of the case reveals that the woman was brutally murdered.

"Police have found a body of a woman who had been cut into pieces, from a society in the Mira Road area. Here a couple was living in a live-in relationship. A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was hacked to death. Further Investigation underway," Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Mumbai Jayant Bajbale said.

The gruesome killing was committed on June 4, and the accused used two cutters to chop the body of the deceased into small pieces. One of the cutter was an electric one, ACP of Mira-Bhayander Vasai Virar police told IE. He also informed that some pieces of the body are missing, and the police suspect the murderer of dumping the body pieces in different areas.

The Mumbai police DCP also added that the police investigation to found other evidences is underway.

Months ago, a similar case garnered the attention of national media when a twenty-seven-year old Indian woman, Shraddha Walkar, was allegedly murdered by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala in Delhi on 18 May,2022.
