Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a statement after the swearing-in ceremony in Bengaluru, said, “Nafrat ko mitaya, Mohabbat jeeti,” translated as “Hatred has been eradicated, Love has triumphed.”
Rahul Gandhi was addressing the crowd after senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah took oath as Karnataka Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar has also sworn in as Karnataka's deputy CM at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru.
Congress leader added, “We made five promises to you. I had said we don't make false promises. We do what we say. In 1-2 hours, the first cabinet meeting of the Karnataka govt will happen and in that meeting these five promises will become law. We will give you a clean, non-corrupt government.”
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office and secrecy to both leaders at the swearing-in ceremony. The top brass of the Congress party including the Gandhi family members - Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge were present on the occasion.
Union of opposition leaders in the oath-taking ceremony of Siddaramaiah ahead of Lok Sabha election 2024, is more of a show of power of the opposition who is trying hard to stand united against the BJP.
The ceremony was joined by the top leaders of the grand old party, Congress. Gandhi's family members, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, party's national president Mallikarjun Kharge were present on the occasion.
