Only 52% of a total of 1563 candidates gave retest on June 23, NTA says

NTA reassures full security of its website and portals, denies any compromise or hack. NEET-PG exam postponed, UGC-NET exam cancelled. Only 52% of candidates awarded grace marks in NEET-UG 2024 re-test appeared. Some candidates debarred for malpractices.

NEET-UG 2024 re-exam: Merely 813 out of the 1563 candidates who were awarded grace marks in the NEET-UG 2024 exam appeared in the re-test held on Sunday, 23 June.

"Only 52 per cent of a total of 1563 candidates gave retest on June 23. Attendance 813 total," National Testing Agency (NTA) said.

The retest was conducted at seven centers following an order from the Supreme Court. The grace marks were awarded to make up for the loss of time at six centres where the examination started late on May 5.

The exam agency said that in two centers in Haryana's Jajjar, the attendance was 58.09 per cent, i.e. out of 494 candidates, 287 sat for the retest.

It also informed that 63 candidates were debarred from sitting for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET- UG 2024) re-test all over the country over malpractices.

“Now 17 candidates from Bihar have been debarred for malpractices during the NEET examination. 30 candidates from centers in Godhra have been debarred,” NTA said.

‘Website, web portals fully secure’

Amid allegations of irregularities in the conduct of entrance examinations, the NTA on Sunday claimed its website and all its web portals are fully secure.

It also dismissed the allegations of the portals being compromised, terming the claims "wrong and misleading."

"NTA website and all its web portals are fully secure. Any information that has been compromised and hacked is wrong and misleading," the NTA said in a post on X.

Notably, the Centre also postponed the NEET-PG exam a day ahead of its examination date and cancelled the UGC-NET exam conducted on June 18.
