A Delhi court on Friday extended the judicial custody of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik till 23 October in a terror funding case of 2017.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday also filed supplementary charge sheet before a National Investigative Agency (NIA) court against the separatist leader and others in 2017 terror funding case.
Separatists Asiya Andrabi, Shabir Shah, Masarat Alam Bhat have also been named as accused in the charge sheet.
Former J&K MLA Rashid Engineer has also been named in the charge sheet, special public prosecutor Sidharth Luthra told PTI.
Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Syal put up the matter for taking cognizance on 23 October.
The separatist leader was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on 22 February from his Maisuma residence in Srinagar, following the Pulwama suicide attack on a convoy of the Central Reserve Police Force, (CRPF) resulting in the deaths of 40 security personnel. The JKLF chief was arrested in a case related to terror financing, as part of the probe agency’s crackdown against separatist leaders in the Kashmir valley.
On 04.10.2019, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed 2nd Supplementary Charge-sheet in the NIA Special Court, Patiala House courts, New Delhi in RC-10/2017/NIA/DLI (commonly known as J&K Terror Funding Case) against 05 separatists for criminal conspiracy and waging war against Government of India by carrying out terrorist and secessionist activities in the State of Jammu & Kashmir. The 3000 pages supplementary Charge-sheet has been filed under Sections 120B, 121, 121A and 124A of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 38, 39 and 40 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967." said the NIA press release
"The 05 accused persons are : 1) Yasin Malik, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), a proscribed organization. 2) Shabir Ahmed Shah, Founder and President of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP). 3) Masarat Alam, Chairman of Jammu & Kashmir Muslim League Party. 4) Syeda Aasiya Andrabi, Founder and Self-styled Chief of Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), a proscribed terrorist organization. 5) Abdul Rashid Sheikh @ Engineer Rashid, Ex-MLA and Chairman, Awami Ittehad Party of Jammu and Kashmir." it further adds.
