New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief ministers of states will give shape to a blueprint for a developed India at the eighth meeting of the governing council of federal policy think tank NITI Aayog in New Delhi on Saturday.

According to NITI Aayog, the meeting will work towards a collaborative roadmap for a 'Vikasit Bharat by 2047' where the Centre and states work as 'Team India.'

This will play a key role in the global context as India's socio-economic growth and transformation have the power to produce a positive multiplier effect, said a NITI Aayog social media post on Saturday's meeting.

The meeting will lay special emphasis on micro, small and medium enterprises, the backbone of both the manufacturing and export sectors. MSMEs account for about 45% of manufacturing output, more than 40% of exports, over 28% of gross domestic product (GDP) and employs about 111 million people, as per official estimates.

The meeting will also discuss infrastructure and investments, minimising compliance, women empowerment, health and nutrition, skill development and social infrastructure.

India’s growth is closely interlinked with that of states, according to NITI Aayog. This will be the guiding spirit of India's inclusive and sustainable vision for the next quarter century, according to the policy think tank.

The Governing Council of the federal policy think-tank meets once a year to set the national agenda which in the past included issues like promoting use of locally made goods, identifying export possibilities that will add jobs at the local level, and adoption of a common resolve to improve GST collections. It also gives the Centre an opportunity to push its key programmes and policy ideas at the state level as a coordinated approach could deliver better results.
