NRAI appoints Anurag Katriar as new president

The appointment was made unanimously after Rahul Singh, Founder & CEO, The Beer Café’s tenure came to an end

    New Delhi: The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI) has appointed Anurag Katriar as its new president replacing Rahul Singh, whose tenure as the association’s head has ended.

    The association, representing the interests of over 5,00,000 of small and big restaurants in India, also announced other key appointments on Friday post its 37th annual general meeting. The appointments are for the year 2019-2021.

    Katriar, executive director and CEO, deGustibus, took over as the president of the association. He was formerly the head of Mumbai chapter of NRAI and has been part of the restaurant industry for over 25 years.

    The appointment was made unanimously after Rahul Singh, Founder & CEO, The Beer Café’s tenure came to an end, the NRAI said in a statement. Singh will continue to serve on the managing committee, the NRAI statement added.

    The NRAI has recently been in the news after its members mobilized a movement against online food aggregators for seeking fair terms and conditions and ending steep discounting on such platforms.

    The association also appointed Kabir Suri, co-founder and director, Azure Hospitality, as vice president. Suri was the head of Delhi NRAI chapter.

    Other office bearers for 2019-2021 include Pratik Pota, CEO, Jubilant FoodWorks Ltd (Domino’s) who is now honorary joint secretary; Nitin Saluja, CEO, Sunshine Teahouse (Chaayos) appointed as honorary treasurer, and Manpreet Singh, Director, KS Hotels, as honorary treasurer.

    New appointments to the managing committee include AD Singh, managing director, Olive Bar & Kitchen Pvt Ltd; Aditya Ladsaria, co-founder & director, ALP Retail Pvt Ltd (Chai Break); Amit Arora, CEO and MD, Buddy Retail; Amit Roy, partner, Shilton Hospitality; Aseem Grover, director, Big Chill Cafe, among others.

    NRAI is a nearly four-decade-old association and is governed by a committee of members and led by a president and office bearers. The committee comprises over 35 restaurant owners.
