New Delhi: Odisha has invited bids for selling nine more mining blocks, comprising seven iron ore blocks, one manganese ore block, and one iron and manganese ore block, according to a notification issued by the state government. This is the third online auction notice in the last 15 days.

Purheibahal, Chandiposhhi, Rengalaberha, Gandhalpada, Netrabandha Pahar (West), Dholtapahar, and Jumka Pathriposhi are the iron ore blocks put on auction, while Kalimati is the manganese block. Unchabali is the iron and manganese ore block put on sale, the notification said.

Interested and eligible bidders can purchase the tender documents until 29 November by paying a fee 500,000 each for eight blocks on sale, except the Kalimati manganese block. The tender fee for the manganese block is 200,000. The last date for submitting bids is 4 December.

The state had failed to auction a single mining block in the financial year 2018-19 due to legal issues. Following this, the steel and mines department has planned to sell maximum blocks this fiscal.

The state government has put 20 operational mines on auction in two phases as the lease period of these mines would end on 31 March, 2020. Earlier this month on 4 October, the state had issued a notification for auction of seven iron ore and three iron ore and manganese blocks.

Another notification was issued on 14 October for auction of five blocks of iron ore, three iron ore and manganese blocks and two manganese ore blocks.
