Odisha train accident: Father's eager search ends in reunion, finds injured son at morgue
A father searches for his son after the Odisha train accident. Biswajit Malik survived but was seriously injured. The CBI is investigating the crash.

Biswajit Malik, a 24-year-old passenger boarded the ill-fated Coromandel Express which collided with another express train and a goods train which claimed 275 lives and left over 1,100 injured on Friday.
His father Helaram Malik, a shopkeeper from Howrah, received the disastrous news about the Odisha train accident just hours after dropping off his son at Shalimar station, according to a report published by The Times of India.
Immediately, Helaram called his son over the phone. Despite being in pain, Biswajit answered the call with a low voice and said that he was still alive but suffering greatly due to the train accident.
After listening to this, his father did not waste a single moment and contacted a local ambulance driver Palash Pandit to embark on his 230-km journey to the accident site in Odisha's Balasore district.
He inquired at all the hospitals about his son, but could not find him. However, Helaram did not leave hope and went around asking people. Biswajit's father even looked into Bahanaga high school, where the bodies were kept, TOI reported.
Finally, the father got reunited with his son at the makeshift morgue. The 24-year-old was unconscious and had suffered serious injuries in the crash, however, his father immediately took him to Balasore Hospital, where he received treatment.
However, he was referred to Cuttack Medical College Hospital for further treatment. Later, the family drove Biswajit to SSKM Hospital in Kolkata for further treatment.
The report stated that his condition is critical but stable.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is poised to take charge of the investigation into the Odisha train accident, which claimed the lives of 275 people and left over 1,100 injured.
The decision to involve the CBI was prompted by findings from a preliminary probe that suggested "deliberate interference" in the signaling system, necessitating a thorough investigation by a professional agency.
