Operation Sindoor Highlights: The Centre has called for an all-party meeting on Thursday, May 8, in the wake of Operation Sindoor which was carried out by the Indian Armed Forces in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. 

Operation Sindoor: Government shares details

Earlier in the day, the government shared details of 'Operation Sindoor' that was carried out between 1:05 am and 1:30 am. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh said Operation Sindoor was launched to deliver justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, that left 26 persons dead.

As part of 'Operation Sindoor', nine terror camps were targeted and “successfully destroyed.” After India's Operation Sindoor, the US, the UK and China cautioned their citizens against travelling to certain regions in India and Pakistan.

Masood Azhar says family killed

Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Maulana Masood Azhar acknowledged on Wednesday that 10 members of his family and four close associates were killed in India's missile attack on the outfit's headquarters in Bahawalpur.

A statement attributed to Azhar said those killed in the attack on Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah in Bahawalpur included the JeM chief's elder sister and her husband, a nephew and his wife, another niece, and five children from his extended family.

Operation Sindoor LIVE: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar calls Operation Sindoor a fitting response

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday hailed Operation Sindoor, calling it a "closure" for the families affected by the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.  

"There is closure for the families of the victims. We cancelled a protest in Raichur against the price rise in view of the retaliatory attacks. We don't want to do politics on this issue, and we strongly stand behind the defence forces and the government," he said.

Operation Sindoor LIVE: DC vs PBKS match to happen at Dharamshala, says report

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has received clearance from the Indian government to host match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) match on Thursday of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in Dharamshala at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium. Operation Sindoor LIVE: SpiceJet cancels flights from six airports

SpiceJet on Tuesday announced the cancellation of flight operations to and from six airports in northern India, following airport closures implemented amid heightened security in the wake of the Indian Armed Forces' 'Operation Sindoor' launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.

In its travel advisory posted on social media platform X, SpiceJet stated that Leh, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Kandla, and Dharamshala airports are currently shut, and all flight operations to and from these cities remain suspended till 5:29 am IST on May 10.

France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot expressed concern over the situation between India and Pakistan, and also acknowledged India's desire to protect itself against terrorism, but emphasised the need for restraint.

Operation Sindoor LIVE: Emirates, Ethiad, Qatar Airways cancel flights to Pakistan

Operation Sindoor LIVE: Several Gulf carriers have suspended flights to Pakistan, including Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways, with airport closures in northern India also affecting many flight routes.

Emirates has canceled flights from Dubai to Sialkot, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar on Wednesday. “Customers on cancelled flights must not proceed to the airport,” it said on its website.

Flights to and from Karachi are not impacted and will be operating as per schedule, the airline said.

Etihad said it had canceled flights to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad on Wednesday.

“Additionally, some other services may be rerouted to avoid the affected airspace, potentially resulting in extended flight times,” Etihad Airways said in a statement.

Qatar Airways said it had “temporarily suspended flights” to Pakistan, citing Pakistani airspace closure.

“The airline is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to prioritise the safety of its passengers and crew,” it said.

Meanwhile, Indian carriers including SpiceJet and IndiGo have issued travel advisories regarding cancelations to and from destinations in northern India.

Operation Sindoor LIVE: Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani spoke to top officials from both India and Pakistan today, holding a phone call with EAM Jaishankar, and a separate call with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Qatari foreign ministry said in two statements.

According to the statements, which were nearly identical, Al-Thani “expressed Qatar’s deep concern” over the situation and affirmed the country’s “full support for all regional and international efforts aimed at resolving outstanding issues between the two countries through dialogue and peaceful means.”

Operation Sindoor LIVE: The Delhi Airport authorities have issued an advisory for passengers stating that some flights have been impacted due to changing airspace conditions. 

“Due to changing airspace conditions some flights have been impacted. Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates and alternate travel arrangements”, the advisory read.

“We are working closely with airlines and Air Traffic Control (ATC) to minimize any disruptions to flight schedules. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities.” the advisory added.
