J&K police lodged an First Information Report (FIR) against social media sensation Orry (Orhan Awatramani) and seven others on March 15. The group allegedly consumed alcohol and ate non-vegetarian food at the Cottage Suite, despite prohibition at the Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage, according to a press note from J&K police on Monday, reported ANI.
Police took cognisance of it after the Hotel Katra Marriott Resort and Spa administration complained about them. A picture that went viral on March 15 showed Orry with some friends, with a liquor bottle placed on the table. The hotel manager listed the people involved, namely Darshan Singh, Parth Raina, Rashi Dutta, Hrithik Singh, Shagun Kohli, Rakshita Bhogal and Anastasila Arzamaskina.
A PDP spokesperson, Mohit Bhan, posted on X, saying, “Mata Vaishno Devi, a revered pilgrimage site, is NOT a Party Destination. This Bollywood Joker #Orry & friends drinking there is a direct insult to Hindu faith.I urge J&K Govt CM @OmarAbdullah @JmuKmrPolice to take action against the hotel for this disgrace to Maa Vaishno Devi [sic].”
“A special team, under the supervision of SP Katra, Dy SP Katra, and SHO Katra, was formed to investigate the matter. Notices will be sent to all accused individuals, including Orry, instructing them to join the probe. SSP Reasi has reiterated that anyone violating the law, especially by indulging in activities like alcohol or drug consumption at religious sites, will be dealt with strictly," Times Now quoted a Reasi police official as saying.
SSP Reasi, Shri Paramvir Singh, ordered the arrest of all those mentioned in the FIR to set a precedent “of zero tolerance of any such act at a religious place which can hurt the sentiments of people.”
Meanwhile, a special team has been constituted, which will be overseen by SP Katra, DSP Katra, and SHO Katra.
