Influencer and content creator Orry, who's original name is Orhan Awatramani, on Wednesday, appeared before Mumbai Police to record his statement in the ₹252 crore mephedrone seizure case. According to police, his name cropped up during the interrogation of Mohammed Salim Mohammed Suhail Shaikh, a key accused in the case.
Orry arrived at the Ghatkopar unit of the Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of police around 1.30 pm, the official said. He had been asked to visit the ANC office last Thursday earlier, but had sought more time.
Photos and videos on social media showed Orry was mobbed as he appeared for the questioning. As Orry reached the office for questioning, he was immediately surrounded by a crowd of people and paparazzi pushing in for photos and videos. Amid the chaos, he made his way to the ANC unit without stopping to respond to any questions.
The case in question dates back to March 2024 when the police seized 126.14 kg of mephedrone, commonly known as ‘MD’, valued at around ₹252 crore from a manufacturing unit located on a farm in Maharashtra’s Sangli district.
Shaikh allegedly claimed that he used to organise rave parties in India and abroad for certain film and fashion celebrities, a politician, and a relative of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim.
Before Orry, Bollywood actor Shraddha Kapoor's brother Siddhanth appeared before the Anti-Narcotics Cell on Tuesday as the probe into the case deepened.
Shaikh, nicknamed `Lavish' because of his lavish lifestyle, was deported from Dubai last month and arrested in connection with the seizure of mephedrone worth ₹252 crore from a clandestine drug factory in Maharashtra's Sangli district.
He was a close aide of Salim Dola who oversaw mephedrone manufacturing and distribution across India, police had said earlier.
