Petrol and diesel prices were slashed for the third straight day today. While petrol price was cut by 24 paise, the price of diesel was lowered by 27 paise today across all major cities in the country.
A litre of petrol is sold at ₹72.45 a litre in Delhi. Petrol now costs ₹ ₹78.11 a litre in Mumbai. In Kolkata, a litre of petrol is available at ₹75.13. Those who are in Chennai will have to pay ₹75.27 for a litre of petrol.
A litre of diesel costs ₹ ₹65.43 in Delhi. Those in Mumbai have to pay ₹68.57 for a litre diesel. In Kolkata, a litre of diesel is sold at ₹67.79. Diesel can be bought at ₹ ₹69.10 a litre in Chennai.
In February, petrol has become cheaper by around 82 paise per litre and diesel by around 85 paise a litre.
International crude oil fell last week as Russia said it needed more time before committing to cut output sought by other large producers. Oil prices posted their fifth straight weekly decline. Brent crude was trading at $54.50 per barrel.
The retail prices of fuel are dependent on the international crude prices and the rupee-US dollar exchange rate. Domestic petrol and diesel prices are reviewed by oil marketing companies on a daily basis.
