Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building, and expressed his vision for it to become a symbol of empowerment, fueling aspirations and fostering their realization.

"May this iconic building serve as a powerful symbol of empowerment, inspiring and nurturing dreams to transform into tangible realities," expresses PM Modi.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sentiments of pride, hope, and optimism as the new Parliament building of India was inaugurated. He said, “As the new building of India’s Parliament is inaugurated, our hearts and minds are filled with pride, hope and promise. May this iconic building be a cradle of empowerment, igniting dreams and nurturing them into reality. May it propel our great nation to new heights of progress."

The inauguration ceremony of India's new Parliament building begun with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla having arrived at the new House and attending the puja and havan. PM Modi has installed the historic ‘Sengol’ near the Lok Sabha's speaker's chair.

The ceremony, which aimed to promote religious inclusivity and unity, brought together leaders from different faiths to offer prayers and blessings.

The new Parliament Building will represent the ethos of India with different materials of the building sourced from India's various regions. The sandstone for the building has been brought from Rajasthan's Samthura while the Ashoka Chakras inside both houses have been sourced from Indore.

The Prime Minister further attended muti-faith prayers. During the historic inauguration of the new Parliament building, prayers from all religions (Jain, Judaism, Hindu, Islam, Sikh) were recited. Amit Shah, Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla, Yogi Adityanath, Smriti Irani, and other leaders were also present during the multi-faith prayers.

The newly constructed Parliament building will accommodate a larger number of members, with seating capacity for 888 individuals in the Lok Sabha. In contrast, the existing Parliament building currently allows for the seating of 543 Members in the Lok Sabha and 250 in the Rajya Sabha.
