Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday virtually flagged off Uttarakhand's first semi-high speed Vande Bharat Express train connecting Dehradun with the national capital New Delhi. While inaugurating the sixth Vande Bharat Express train, he congratulated the people of Uttarakhand, saying ‘people in these two cities will now be able to travel faster. And apart from that, the trains offer multiple facilities that will make the travel more comfortable’
Speaking about his recent international travels, the prime minister said, “The entire world is now talking about India, about how it is fighting different challenges. During such a time, a beautiful state like Uttarakhand should fully utilise the facilities provided by the Vande Bharat Express train."
“This train will be extremely helpful for crores of devotees who travel to Kedarnath every year."
PM also promised, “This decade will be Uttarakhand. And, I believe, soon Dehradun can become a major travel attraction for the entire world."
Later he took to Twitter to say, “Delighted to flag off the Delhi-Dehradun Vande Bharat Express. It will ensure 'Ease of Travel' as well as greater comfort for the citizens."
This will be the sixth Vande Bharat connecting Delhi from different routes. Till now, the national capital is connected with Ajmer, Varanasi, Katra, Bhopal, and Amb Andaura.
The train has been built indigenously and is equipped with advanced safety features including the Kavach technology. It has world-class amenities and heralds a new era of comfortable travel experience, especially for the tourists travelling to the state.
An official release said that Indian Railways is on a quest to completely electrify rail routes in the country guided by the vision of the Prime Minister of providing cleaner means of public transport.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw were present at Dehradun railway station.
