PM to flag off Goa’s first Vande Bharat Express on Saturday
The Vande Bharat Express, the 19th of its kind in the country, will operate between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon station

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to virtually inaugurate Goa’s first Vande Bharat Express on 3 June from Madgaon railway station, the prime minister’s office said in a statement.
The introduction of this state-of-the-art train, in line with the Prime Minister’s ‘Make in India’ and Aatmanirbhar Bharat vision, aims to enhance connectivity and provide a seamless travel experience for the people of the region.
The Vande Bharat Express, the 19th of its kind in the country, will operate between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon station. This high-speed train is expected to complete the journey in approximately seven and a half hours, effectively saving passengers an hour of travel time compared to the existing fastest train on this route.
“The train will run between Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Goa’s Madgaon station. It will cover the journey in approximately seven and half hours which will help save about one hour of journey time, when compared with the current fastest train connecting the two places," the PMO said.
The Goa-Mumbai Vande Bharat express would be Maharashtra’s fifth and Mumbai’s fourth semi-high speed train. Presently, Vande Bharat trains ply on Mumbai-Shirdi, Mumbai-Solapur Mumbai Gandhinagar and, Nagpur-Bilaspur (though it is temporarily replaced by Tejas Express) routes.
Designed and manufactured domestically, the indigenously made Vande Bharat Express boasts world-class amenities and advanced safety features, including the innovative KAVACH technology.
