Prime Minister Narendra Modi has tweeted ahead of the launch of a documentary on ‘Operation Ganga’ which tells the story of one of the largest evacuation operations carried out by the Indian government to bring home thousands of Indians, including students, who were stuck in war-torn Ukraine. Under ‘Operation Ganga’, more than 22,000 Indians were evacuated from Ukraine after Russia launched a military operation. PM Modi, too, has featured in the documentary.
The ‘Operation Ganga’ documentary also features External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and MoS General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh.
In a tweet, PM Modi said that Operation Ganga shows the country’s resolve to stand with its people no matter how intimidating the challenge is. “Operation Ganga indicates our firm resolve to stand with our people no matter how daunting the challenge is. It also reflects India's indomitable spirit,” PM Modi has tweeted.
Speaking of the History TV18’s documentary on Operation Ganga, titled, ‘The Evacuation: Operation Ganga’, PM Modi said, “This documentary would be very informative on aspects relating to this Operation.”
The documentary which tells the harrowing trials and tales of the Indians who were stuck in war-grappled Ukraine, hiding from the intermittent firing and air strikes, living in bunkers, and trying to get to safe locations, will be released today at 8 pm on History TV18 channel. The documentary reveals never before seen details of the air evacuation to bring over 22,000 stranded Indians home.
The documentary has been narrated by media commentator and Defence Analyst Maroof Raza. The documentary is the first-hand account of the Indians who lived in bunkers as the world above was too unsafe to live on; they were devoid of basic necessities, food and water, while their parents anxiously awaited their safe return.
The Evacuation: Operation Ganga" provides a unique glimpse into the intricacies of a massive undertaking and showcases the extraordinary endeavors of the Indian government in establishing safe pathways for stranded Indians.
As PM Modi explains: “In the heart of every Indian, there rests a profound faith: No matter the challenge, no matter how daunting the circumstance, they know their government stands with them and will bring them back home safely. This isn't merely policy - it is our testament of humanity. This is a bond we have seen strengthen time and again, reflecting the indomitable spirit of our nation.”
