Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monthly radio programme Mann Ki Baat will witness a change in its broadcast time on 26 January since the morning radio show is clashing with the Republic Day ceremonies on Sunday.

According to the new plan, the monthly radio programme will now go on air at 6 PM instead of the usual 11 AM. The change in timing is only for 26 January. The decision was taken because the timing of the monthly radio programme will clash with Republic Day function in the morning. The announcement of a change in timing was made on Wednesday.

This is not the first time when PM Modi has changed the time of the monthly radio programme which normally takes place at 11 am on the last Sunday of every month. Earlier, the timing of radio programme was changed once because Modi was joined by the then President of the United States, Barack Obama, on 27 January 2015. The radio programme with Obama was aired at 8pm and the broadcast for regional and northeast took place at 9am on 28 January 2015.

Meanwhile, people and listeners have been invited to give their suggestion for Mann Ki Baat programme that will be aired on 26 January. The phone lines through which people and listeners of the show could be give their suggestions would remain open from 8 January to 23 January and suggestions can also be given on MyGov website.

The concept of holding a direct non-political conversation with the people of the country had started in 2014 after Modi became Prime Minister for the first time. PM has maintained that the radio programme remains non-political and there would be discussion of the ongoing political situation in the country.

Before the show is aired every month, people are invited to share their views about the issues they want PM Modi to talk about and also give suggestions. The highlight of the programmes have been when PM has talked about security of women, education and protection of girl child, exam preparation of students, yoga day celebrations and also about cultural and tourism places in the country.
